Harmony's Softball Team
Harmony's softball team is a member of the Christian Fellowship Softball
League of northern Berkeley County. The league is a co-ed league presently
composed of ten teams from church's of many different denominations. The league
was formed 5 years ago to give people a chance to play ball where you could take
the whole family, and enjoy fellowship with other Christians, and most of all
have fun.
The Harmony team started out basically as a whim in 1997, but
soon evolved into such a large undertaking that the roster the first year
boasted 38 players! Team was so enthusiastic that they decided to purchase hats
and jerseys thinking that even though they might not play very well the first
year, at least they would look good! But play well they did, taking fourth place
in the tournament at the end of the year, and doing so in 100+ degree temps. The
1997 season was a learning experience, as the team decided that for the 1998
season the dark blue jerseys would give way to new lighter gray jerseys. These
can be seen in the team photo on this site. They certainly would be cooler come
tournament time.
The Harmony placed third this year out of twelve teams
in the tournament. We played a hard-fought battle with Second Baptist with the
score tied in the seventh inning, but lost. This was our best finish ever in our
five years.
