A native of Baltimore, Rev. Cofiell received her Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. in 1986. She is a 1980 graduate of Towson University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Mass Communication. Rev Cofiell is an ordained elder and member of The Baltimore-Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church, and is celebrating her 25th year in ordained ministry in 2010.

For six years Rev. Cofiell served in Deaf Ministry, serving as chaplain at Gallaudet University, St. Elizabeths (sic) Hospital, and as pastor of the Magothy Church of the Deaf in Pasadena, Maryland. She taught "Sunday School" on Wednesdays at the Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick and Columbia, Maryland and worked at the conference’s "Deaf Camp" for nearly 20 years. Before being appointed to Harmony UMC in July 2008, she served Trinity UMC in Frederick, First UMC in Hyattsville, Maryland, and Hedgesville UMC in Berkeley County, West Virginia.

Rev. Cofiell has served in a variety of denominational and conference ministries. She has written extensively for The United Methodist Publishing House and Abingdon Press, and has served on conference boards and committees. She is actively involved with the Berkeley County Cluster of United Methodist Churches. Preaching, teaching, and designing worship are among her greatest joys, and she is committed to reconnecting United Methodists to our sacramental roots and practices, our zeal for social justice, and our commitment to the poor and disenfranchised in the name of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Terri lives with her husband, Richard Howington, and their canine children, Penny and Daisy, in Gerrardstown. Being appointed to Harmony felt like coming home; she and Richard were married at Harmony in 2000. She feels blessed to be appointed to Harmony and is excited by the congregation’s passion for mission and commitment to the Marlowe/Falling Waters community.
